Bible Study

Week 10
Book of Amos, Jonah & Micah

1. What is the different between the Book of Jonah and the book of other prophets.

Jonah was a reluctant prophet that at first did not want to obey God and ran away from Him.
The book of Jonah is like an autobiography, it is very much a story by Jonah himself, which is different from the book of other prophets.

2. Why Jonah did not want to go to Ninevah?

Jonah was probably afraid of the wicked Ninevites, who were known far and wide for their savage cruelty. So Jonah would rather see them be destroyed rather than saved.
Or perhaps Jonah wanted God to favor Israel alone.

Week 8-9
Mini-Outreach weeks

Week 7
Book of Daniel

In the Book of Daniel I learnt God’s faithfulness and His power.

During the mini-outreach in Ukraine, I fully experience God’s faithfulness.
By looking at our 40-hours return journey, despite we stuck at custom for 9 hours and car broke down repeatedly, I never had a moment feeling scare, in danger, or hungry.

God attentively supply for our every needs, big or small. Besides the physical food and selter that He provided, the incident that left me in awe was our team had a very open sharing at the night we were stuck in Poland, and that night changed my whole experience of the trip and God poured His mercy on all of us, for us to embrace one another’s weaknesses.

Week 5-6
Book of Exodus

1. Why did the magicians fail?
I think God allowed the magicians to have success in the first few time in order to make Pharaoh’s heart hardened.

The reason why the magicians failed is because God is powerful. God is in control, He takes and gives away. God proofed himself to the Israelites and Egyptians that nothing can over-power God and they should only obey and follow God.

2. What’s your Egypt?
The life before I became a Christian, and the life before I really knew and had a relationship with God will be my Egypt.
No matter what I will never return there :)

3. What’s your promise land?
Honestly I do not know, but God knows and I am waiting for Him to reveal to me.
Regardless where that is, there should be a place that I am super close to  God.

Week 4
Book of Romans

Strengths of Church:

1. Obedience

2. Being a witness for God
3. Their faith been reported all over the world

Weaknesses of Church:
1. They believe in law and the circumcision without truly understand the meaning of circumcision of the heart. They do not believe they can rely solely on God’s grace for their salvation
2. Although the know God, their action did not glorify Him
3. They Pass judgment on someone else

Week 3
Book of Ephesian

What is Spiritual Warfare?

Spiritual warfare is the battle in mind, emotions and will against Satan’s deception, temptation and wicked plans. The goal of Satan is to make us further from God.

Scriptural truth is our primary line of defense.
In Ephesians 6:10-18, God has given us the full armor to protect us from any spiritual attack.

Week 3
Book of Philippians

The Headline
Stand Firm, Stay United, and Press On Toward the Goal

Key Versus

Philippians 4:6-7

Do no be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Week 2
Book of Acts

Holy spirit played a very important role in the Book of Acts. Acts shows how revival and church growth comes, not by human effort, but through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Without the Holy Spirit, the apostles most probably could not do anything.

Week 1
Book of Matthew

For our bible study we are using the inductive reading method. Each of us in a group read a chapter in turn, without pause, without questions.
It took me a while to adjust to this method because I have so many questions along the way. But it is good experience to just read the whole book like it is a letter or a story, it gave me a overall idea of the significance of that book and the overall theme.
