Project #8 Spray Paint
God loves you in all languages
We are exploring street art this week, so we need to use spray paints to make an art.
We are exploring street art this week, so we need to use spray paints to make an art.
And hopefully bring this art and do it
on our outreach - Spray on walls and not get caught!!
I first practiced and make a leave, then I created "God loves
you" in 6 languages of countries in the 10/40 window - Chinese, Japanese,
Thai, Khmer (Cambodia), Vietnamese and Korean.
It is so smelly but you actually feel
super thrill holding that spray paint!!
Project #7 Installation Art 2
My love will get you home -
Extension
This is an extension of Project#6. We were just given 48 hours to create giant art piece to show
on the critique night, and being under pressure and rush, somehow I
accidentally did a good job.
I use the linoleum print that I made,
to form this big hand with the finger pointing "YOU!"
This is displayed in the top of the
dining hall.
Project #6 Linoleum art
My love will get you home
This is called the linoleum, or
lino-cut in short form. We use knife to cut out any pattern we want, then apply
ink on it and print it on paper.
The lyrics “If you wander off too far,
my love will get you home” keep looping in my head at the end of the teaching
“Father's Heart of God”.
God is a father full of love, mercy
and graciousness. God’s love is like the father in the parable of the prodigal
son - no matter how you mess up in your life, nothing else matters, God's love
will get you home.
Anyone interested to have a print to
put in their home?
Project #5 Installation Art
1
Power of Prayer - Giant paper
cup phone
Medium: Cardboard paper
This paper cup phone, with one hand a regular size cup and the other end a 5-ft tall giant cup, represents the power of prayer. I install this paper cup phone in the stairway, hanging down from top to bottom.
When we pray, we are partnering
hand-in-hand with God toward the realization of His purpose on earth. The power
of prayer resides in God who is being prayed to. Let’s not underestimate
the awesome and immeasurable power of prayer.
“Do not be anxious about
anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present
your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding,
will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians
4:6-7)
Project #4: The Father’s hand
Medium: Charcoal on paper
God is always standing behind me, with
His hand on by back. It is like a father walking with a toddler, His hand
is lightly padded on my back. I still have freewill to walk anywhere I
want. He witnesses everything that happens in my life; When I fall, He
will catch me; When I walk astray, God will apply moderating influence on me.
This is my first time ever using a
charcoal, well not very happy with this work but still show it anyway.
Painting & Intercession
03Feb2012
Today in art track we did an
interesting practice on black/white drawing.
We were given time to intercede in prayers and
draw whatever God has spoken to us. Below were the two drawings I did.
First drawing
First drawing
Time given: the time of one song
Because of the love of God, everywhere
is filled with hope and lives.
God is worthy of our praise, even the
plant wants to worship Him.
Second drawing
Time given: 15 minutes
The two
sides are our world, there are sins, pain, suffering, sorrow, hurts. Some
people will hold on to their pain and burden, keeping themselves in the swirl.
God sees
through all our sins, He understands our pain and suffering, He reads our life
like an ultrasound pictures. There is nothing we can hide from Him.
Yet, there
is hope, that is the path to God.
God can
carry our burden and hurts so we do not have to hold on to them anymore. God
sent Jesus to die for us and wash away all our iniquity and cleanse us from our sin.
God is
consistent, God is faithful, God is love.
Everyone
can receive the free gift and love from God.
The
path to God is right there, there is no barrier blocking us, all we need to do
is to CHOOSE.
Choose to accept the love of God,
choose to return to our Father in Heaven.
"For
God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes
in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
Art Track Project#3 - How God sees me in His eyes
It is an
image that God given me, streams of colors pouring over a transparent glassy
ball.
Because
of this project, I had a lot of conversation with God.
When I
first prayed “God, how you see me in your eyes?”
He
showed me a giant glassy ball, that’s me.
The
ball is very pretty but I was like “God, that’s a joke right, which part of me
is a ball. Come on, I need a portrait with eye ear nose and mouth. And I cannot
draw a ball, my last painting has a ball.”
But the
more I argued, the more God laughed. He made me felt that “Don’t argue, you’re
that ball”.
In next
2 days I kept praying about the project, and God showed me the full picture, streams of colors pouring down to that glassy ball. The image is absolute
stunning.
But
there’s a problem, I could not draw that, that’s 3D.
I was
thinking, "hmmm....I will ask David/ Fina….. to draft that for me, then I will paint
on it."
But God
said “No no no, you will draw it”.
My first few drafts were absolute disaster, they all looked like onion.
I kept praying and trying and then things
started to make more sense.
I cannot fully
interpret the meaning of the image, hopefully God will reveal that to me soon.
Art Track Project#2 - My Relationship with God (Illustration)
Base on our project in the nature, we have to illustrate that relationship in drawing or painting.
The ideas of the pictures has evolved base on the teaching and bible study I had in the first week of school, so it is not a direct illustration from what I did in the snow.
The teaching that challenge me most is "The enemy of the Best is the Good", are you willing to let go of your good life, in order to receive the best plan from God?
The most inner circle represents me, again that represents my current life and priorities. If you look closer, you can see that circle is formed by sewing needles.
I felt that for me to break through the current pattern to go to another level, is as difficult as going through the eye of a needles (inspired by the Story of the Rich Young Man, Matthew 19:16-30).
Yet God's love, is still surrounding me all over, wrapping tightly.
Only if one can break through the current pattern and take a step back, then you will realize Jesus and the Kingdom of Heaven, are the fine pearl (Matthew 13:44, Parable of the fine pearl)
Art Track Project#1 - My Relationship with God (Nature)
This project we have to go out into the nature, and create something that represent our current relationship with God.
We can only use things that we find in the snow.
The inner circle (brown grass) represents my current life and priorities (how I spend my time), on family, friends, work, entertainment etc...
The leaves are opportunities to encounter God, there are a lot of opportunities but they ranked at a lower priority, so I will only spend time with God when I have time left (which rarely happens)
I tried to move God up in my priority in past years, but failed, so the grass is in a circle, kind of like dead-loop.
Yet God's love is very tangible and surrounded me no matter what I did, the sticks represents that. Wrapping inward like a hurricane.
